Strategic Leadership Advisory
Clearer thinking. Stronger alignment. Trusted perspective.
At critical moments, leaders don't need more information — they need a thinking partner who can help them see their situation more clearly and move forward with intention.
About Luminary Lens
Light and focus for what matters most
Luminary Lens exists to help leaders, organizations, and boards step back, see their situation more clearly, and move forward with intention.
The name reflects this purpose. A luminary brings light and perspective; a lens sharpens focus. My work sits at that intersection — helping leaders illuminate what matters most, cut through noise, and see patterns that are often difficult to recognize from inside the system.
Drawing on experience as a hospital president, healthcare executive, board contributor, and strategic advisor, I work with leaders who are navigating complexity, growth, or transition and want a partner who can think with them — in the boardroom, the executive team, or moments of public leadership — not simply deliver recommendations.
Whether the challenge involves governance, leadership alignment, organizational performance, or growth strategy, the goal is the same: stronger judgment, clearer decisions, and sustained impact over time.
Situations I'm Brought Into
- Leadership teams navigating growth or transition
- Founders preparing for scale or external partnerships
- Organizations experiencing misalignment at the top
- Executives carrying decision fatigue or isolation
- Boards needing strategic insight and operational judgment
- Healthcare systems facing operational pressure or change
How I Work
Embedded advisor. Thinking partner.
I work as an embedded advisor and thought partner to leaders, organizations, and boards who value depth, continuity, and trusted perspective.
My primary mode of engagement is retainer‑based advisory. This allows me to stay close to the context of your organization, leadership dynamics, and strategic priorities — and to support decision-making as challenges emerge, not after they've already become problems.
Rather than stepping in to deliver a set of recommendations and stepping out again, I work alongside leaders over time to strengthen judgment, alignment, and execution — whether in the executive team, the boardroom, or moments when leadership visibility and clarity matter most.
In some cases, engagements begin with a focused strategic project — such as leadership alignment, governance or growth strategy, market entry, or executive positioning — and evolve into an ongoing advisory relationship as clarity and momentum build.
I also engage selectively through board and governance roles or executive speaking and facilitated conversations, when a shorter-form engagement can serve as a catalyst for deeper leadership development or organizational change.
Across all engagements, the goal is the same: clearer thinking, stronger leadership, and decisions that hold up under real-world pressure.
Ongoing strategic and leadership advisory
Continuity, trust, and the ability to address issues as they arise — not after they become problems.
Priority access and responsiveness
Retainer-based relationships allow me to partner closely with leaders and organizations over time.
Alignment across people, strategy, and execution
Strengthening the connection between leadership intent, organizational strategy, and day-to-day execution.
Who I Work With
Leaders and organizations where clarity matters
I work with leaders and organizations who are operating in environments where decisions are complex, stakes are high, and clarity matters — particularly where leadership, operations, and strategy intersect.
A defining part of my work is shaped by my experience on the operating and leadership side of a health system. Having served as a hospital president, I bring the perspective of someone who has sat in the seat vendors, partners, and advisors are often selling to. That lens allows me to help organizations navigate not only what to do, but how their message, approach, and leadership presence are actually received.
While each engagement is unique, my work most often supports:
Executives & Senior Leaders
CEOs, presidents, and senior executives who want a trusted thinking partner — someone who can help them step back, see patterns clearly, and navigate decisions that carry organizational weight.
Leadership Teams
Executive and senior leadership teams navigating growth, transition, or internal friction, and seeking stronger alignment, trust, and effectiveness at the top.
Healthcare Organizations
Hospitals, medical groups, and healthcare organizations facing operational pressure, leadership development needs, or strategic change within highly regulated, people-intensive environments.
Companies at Inflection Points
Organizations preparing for growth, restructuring, or repositioning — where leadership clarity, operational insight, and strategic focus are critical to what comes next.
Vendors Selling into Healthcare
Established companies and partners seeking to work more effectively with health systems, informed by an insider's understanding of executive priorities and what earns trust on the provider side.
International Companies
Established organizations seeking to enter or grow in the U.S. market and needing guidance on leadership expectations, positioning, and executive-level strategy.
Individuals at Career Inflection Points
Senior professionals and emerging leaders seeking clarity as they navigate career pivots, expanded scope, or promotion into more complex leadership roles — particularly those who want to strengthen leadership presence, self-awareness, and decision-making capability as they step into what's next.
Across all of these contexts, I partner best with leaders and organizations who value judgment, continuity, and long-term perspective — and who see advisory support as an investment in how their organization thinks, leads, and operates.
Proof & Credibility
Grounded in real-world leadership
My work is grounded in real-world leadership experience and reinforced through long-term partnerships with leaders and organizations.
Enterprise & Healthcare Leadership
Firsthand experience from the operating side of a health system, including service as a hospital president. That background shapes how I advise leaders, teams, and organizations — with practical understanding of operational pressure, executive decision-making, and the realities leaders face behind closed doors.
Leadership Development in Complex Environments
Partnered with healthcare leaders and executive teams, supporting retreats, leadership development, self-awareness, and team effectiveness in high-stakes clinical environments, including work with a children's hospital chief nursing executive.
Proven Frameworks, Applied Thoughtfully
Where helpful, I draw from proven leadership frameworks and tools — including John Maxwell-based content and DISC assessments — as part of a broader advisory approach. These tools support the work, but the impact comes from how insight is applied, integrated, and sustained.
Speaking & Executive Presentations
Engaged as a paid speaker for leadership teams, executive retreats, and professional audiences. Sessions draw on real-world operating experience and focus on leadership under pressure, clarity in complex environments, and building capacity that translates into action.
Board & Governance Experience
Experience serving in board and governance settings, contributing an operator's perspective informed by senior executive healthcare leadership. I bring value through strategic insight, operational judgment, and the ability to ask the right questions at moments of risk, growth, or transition.
Individual Leader Impact
Work with individual leaders has supported career pivots, promotions, and expanded leadership scope. Clients describe greater clarity, confidence in decision-making, and stronger leadership presence as they step into more complex roles.
Testimonials and examples across these engagements reflect a consistent theme: leaders and organizations value having a trusted partner who understands both the human and operational dimensions of leadership — and who brings clarity when it matters most.
Engagement Models
Designed for depth, clarity, and real impact
I work with leaders and organizations through a small number of intentional engagement models, designed to support depth, clarity, and real impact — rather than transactional or one-off interactions.
Ongoing Advisory
My preferred and most effective mode of engagement. I serve as an embedded thinking partner to leaders, organizations, or boards over time — supporting decision-making, leadership effectiveness, and strategic clarity as challenges emerge. This approach allows for continuity, trust, and sustained impact.
Focused Strategic Engagements
In some cases, work begins with a time-bound strategic engagement — such as leadership alignment, governance or growth strategy, market entry, executive positioning, or organizational assessment. These engagements are designed to create clarity and momentum and often serve as an on-ramp to ongoing advisory work.
Board & Governance
I engage selectively in paid board or governance roles where my background as a former health system operator and executive can add value. In these settings, I contribute strategic insight, operational judgment, and disciplined oversight, supporting boards as they navigate growth, risk, or transition.
Speaking & Retreats
I also accept select paid speaking engagements, executive retreats, and facilitated conversations. These engagements draw on real-world leadership experience and are designed to spark insight, alignment, and action. Speaking often serves as a catalyst for deeper leadership development or advisory partnerships.
Across all engagement models, my focus remains the same: helping leaders and organizations strengthen judgment, align leadership, and make decisions that hold up under real-world pressure.
Begin a Conversation
Let's explore what support looks like
If you are navigating complexity, growth, or transition — whether as an executive, leadership team member, board, or organization — I welcome a thoughtful conversation.
My work is selective and relationship-driven, grounded in trust, judgment, and shared commitment to meaningful impact. The best place to begin is a conversation to explore fit, context, and what support would be most valuable.
